
How to Book Lower Berth Tickets Only in IRCTC / Indian Railways:
Here is how to book tickets only if it is lower berth so that we may don’t want to book tickets if no lower berth is available. So that there won’t be a loss in your money if there is no lower berth ticket and so you can search for any alternatives.
Look at the above Picture. It is the online form for booking tickets. After entering your Name, Age, Berth Preference, and ID card details scroll down and you will see these options. Click on the consider for Auto Upgradation radio Button. I will explain what is Auto Upgradation later in this post. There will be an option telling Book my ticket only if at least one lower berth is allotted. When you click on this check box, the system would first debit the amount from your account, and then search for availability. If the said condition is fulfilled, it shall not ask back for anything. However, if LB is not available; it will ask back to the user that the said option cannot be met. Do you want to carry on booking without the desired option chosen? Press Yes/No.
(Book only if confirm berths are allotted)

When you press yes, the system shall book a berth as available in the system. When you press no, the transaction would fail, and the amount shall be credited back into your account within 2-3 working days.
This Facility is available only if there are available tickets and if there are no available tickets available and only waiting list and Reservation Against Cancellation(RAC) is there you can’t use this method.
