How to get passport in India

Hi guys.
I’m providing you the step by step procedure on how to get passport in India.

Step 1: Go to the Website http://passportindia.gov.in and register as “New User”.

Step 2: Log in using the username created.

Step 3: Select Apply for the fresh passport/Reissue of Passport

Step 4: There are two methods of Filling form
1) Filling on their website directly
2) downloading pdf file and uploading form after filling it.
(I suggest you to Fill it by downloading file. But it needs Adobe Reader 10.1+)

Step 5:  After Filling up in the form upload in upload e-form link.

Step 6: Then Click on the “schedule appointment” and get an appointment date.

Step 7: Before going to the “Passport Sevak kendra” check yourself as do u have these certificaets

How to get passport in India

 If you born Before 26/01/1989

1) Birth Certificate (or) School Leaving Certificate (or) Mark Statement (or) Affidavit sworn before a Magistrate
2) Transfer Certificate or Bonofide Certificate From your College or School
3) Any Proof for your address (PAN card, Bank account statement, Voters id etc)

If you born After 26/01/1989

1) Birth Certificate.
2) Transfer Certificate or Bonofide Certificate From your College or School
3) Any Proof for your address (PAN card, Bank account statement, Voters id etc)

Step 8: Pay for Passport charges and give a pose for photograph. Some government officials will check your certificates. The whole process may take 2-3 hours by calling batch by batch.

Step 9: Wait for 3-4 weeks for police verification. If you choose Tatkal you will get this step very soon but you have to pay extra for that.

Step 10: Your Passport will reach you through Indian Postal Services.
